The Cat Caper
by Molly Fitz

Octo-Cat has gone missing at the same time that Angie receives a notice in the mail notifying her that the will giving him a rather large trust fund is being disputed. Unless Octo-Cat appears before the judge, it will be assumed that he agrees to arbitration moving forward. And if it does, he may lose the trust fund that allows for him to be kept in the manner to which he has been accustomed. Without that trust fund, Angie, her mom, and Octo-Cat will not be able to afford to remain in his home. Fortunately, Angie is now able to understand other animals as well as Octo-Cat, and with the help of a squirrel and a raccoon, the search is on to rescue him from whoever catnapped him.

I enjoyed reading this story, even though Octo-Cat did not appear until fairly close to the end of this story. I was highly amused by the peanut butter obsessed squirrel, and the raccoon who was Octo-cat’s biggest fan. I am looking forward to seeing how these new characters will assist in Angie and Octo-Cat’s future endeavors as private investigators. The expected human cast of characters from the previous books were also an integral part of this story, and seeing how their own lives intertwined with both Angie and Octo-Cat was always entertaining. Life going forward for all of these characters, and Angie’s mom’s newly adopted (at the end of the book) pet, promises to bring more fun and chaos into all of their lives.

This was a very fun cozy mystery that was a quick read. I have enjoyed other books from Ms. Fitz, and expect to continue enjoying reading other books in both this series and her others as well. I believe that anyone who enjoys reading cozy mysteries, enjoys stories where animals are among the main characters,  or who has enjoyed any of Ms. Fitz’ other books would also enjoy reading this one.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookie Murder
by Trixie Silvertale.

Cindy Claus is back in another new Christmas Catastrophe novel. The Christmas Carnival has not been held in Silver Shoals in many years, not since a collapse of the ice castle had caused the death of a young girl. This year, the city council voted to once again hold the carnival and added a number of additional security precautions and inspections before opening the event to the full public. But during the trial “soft opening” event, there is a collapse of the ice castle, killing the councilwoman who cast the deciding vote that allowed the festival to be held once again.

I read a review copy of this book and very much enjoyed it. One of the most amusing aspects for me about this book was the fact that not only do we get to enjoy Cindy Claus and her arctic fox Artikoa, but this book is a crossover story in which Mitzy Moon and her husband Sheriff Erick Harper happen to be vacationing in town and visiting the festival when everything happens, so we get to see a team-up of Cindy and Mitzy as they work together to solve this mystery, using all their special skills and abilities to do so. And as a fan of the Mitzy Moon books as well as the Christmas Catastrophe series this book was even more fun than either series on their own has been so far.

I really enjoyed seeing familiar characters from both series working together in this book. And getting to learn a bit more about the backgrounds of their furry companions (Artikoa and Pyewacket as well as Pyewacket’s association with Mitzy’s mentor, Silas) was a nice bonus for me. I hope that we will get to see another crossover between these two series at some point.

As with Ms. Silvertale’s other books, this one was a very fun read. I actually finished it in two days, barely being able to put it down so that I could sleep at night. (In other words, I really enjoyed reading this one.) It was fun, with enough twists and appearances of characters from both series to keep me curled up and reading long past my usual bedtime. And one of the best parts was the delicious sounding cookie recipes that were included at the end of the book. I have not yet tried making any of them, but they sound absolutely delicious and easy to make.

This is a book that I believe anyone who has read any of Ms. Silvertale’s other books, and especially either the Mitzy Moon books or the Christmas Catastrophe books will enjoy. I know I absolutely loved reading this one, and am looking forward to whatever this author writes next.  I would strongly recommend this book, especially during the holiday season so you can try baking the cookies to share with your friends and family.

Dog-Eared Delinquent
by Molly Fitz

Angie and Octo-Cat have another mystery to solve. A new co-worker at her office seems to know about her ability to talk to her cat, though how he found out remains a mystery. There’s something about him that Angie just doesn’t trust, and it’s more than just his own ability to hear Octo-cat or his other secrets. And she’s not the only one that doesn’t trust him. On top of that, a a string of overnight robberies have been happening, all without setting off any alarms, and with the perpetrators appearing to disappear without leaving any clues behind as to how they managed to commit the crimes or how they got away.

This was a fun cozy mystery involving quite a few surprising revelations about how and why Anji can understand Octo-Cat. I really enjoyed reading this book. There is a point in the book where Octo-cat is told, by a dog shifter, that he is not special. That he’s nothing more than an ordinary tabby cat with no special abilities whatsoever, and due to the circumstances surrounding that event, he believes it and begins to slide into a deep depression. After all, he’s always considered himself very special, but at that moment it appears that he is nothing more than an everyday, ordinary, house cat. And that revelation seems to break his spirit.

That moment in the book broke my heart, as we have been having an issue in our household involving a new cat and some dominance issues. My poor cat lost that unexpected challenge to her household dominance, and has been hiding any time she even thinks there is a chance that the other cat will leave her gated room. Given that she had previously been the “top cat” in the household, this change has her sometimes in a similar state as Octo-Cat after his encounter with the pit-bull shifter. So I can fully empathize with how he felt. And I absolutely loved how Angie was able to help him rediscover how special he actually is, and to rebuild his confidence and belief in himself again. (You’ll have to read the book if you want to know what exactly happens.) Also, I believe that all cats are special, whether or not we as their humans may always be aware of how special they are.

I also enjoyed learning how Angie truly gained the ability to understand Octo-cat, and the set-up for future stories involving the pair and their endeavors as pet-related private investigators. I am very much looking forward to reading more of the books in this series.

I feel that this would be a good book for anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries, especially ones where the animals often take center stage in the story. While technically Angie is the main character, Octo-Cat is every bit as important as she is to this tale. Without him, Angie would not have been able to discover much of what she did learn nor would she have been able to solve the mystery of who had been committing the robberies or how. Anyone who has read any of Ms. Fitz's other books, both the ones in this series or any of her other series  would likely also enjoy reading this book.

The Linzer Cookie Murder
by Trixie Silvertale

Cindy Claus, the daughter of Santa Claus, has been living her life away from the North Pole and following her dream of owning her own bakery. Baking is her passion, but when her mother calls to let her know that her father is extremely ill and may be dying, she must return home to help save Christmas. Because if Santa isn’t able to deliver presents a few days later, Christmas will be ruined for children around the world. Can she help save both Santa and Christmas without giving up her own dream? Or will she fail to find the cause of his sudden illness and be forced to remain in the North Pole, taking up the mantle of Santa herself, and giving up her dream of running her own bakery out in the human world.

This was the third book in the Christmas Catastrophe series. I read a review copy of this book and really enjoyed seeing how Cindy dealt with the traumatic occurrence of her near-immortal father, someone who almost never became ill, suddenly so near to death. Nothing her mother was able to do seemed to help Santa, so it falls upon Cindy to determine who is seemingly trying to kill Santa Claus and why. Elves can’t lie, but things at the North Pole seem to be much more troubling than they were when Cindy had last been there. And yet, it hasn’t occurred to her mother or those around her that someone may be trying to kill Santa. There is no apparent reason for anyone to want to kill such a kind and generous man, one who embodies what can only be describes as the spirit of Christmas. And yet, something is definitely wrong at the North Pole.

This was a fun cozy mystery with some interesting twists. I truly enjoyed reading this holiday story. (For those who have read any of Ms. Silvertale’s Mitzy Moon books, you’ll be as amused as I was by the brief appearance of a familiar character from the Harper Moon series, and no, I won’t tell you who shows up in this book.)

In my opinion, one of the best parts of this series is that the author includes the recipes for the holiday treats that Cindy bakes throughout the tale at the end of the book, and while I have not as yet tried to bake any of them myself, they certainly sound very tasty to me. If I don’t wind up trying to make any of them, I’m sure that someone in my household will. (I think the mini cheesecakes sound amazingly tempting.)

Scripts and Empty Crypts
by Trixie Silvertale

Ghostma has sold the movie rights to Mitzy’s story and they intend to film the show using the actual bookstore. The problem being that Ghostma signed the contracts in Mitzy’s name without telling her about it, and now they have no choice but to allow the filmcrew to film inside of the building, despite there being sections of the bookstore that the general public aren’t allowed to know about. In the midst of this, the election is nearing that will either return Erick Harper to the position  of Sheriff or allow Paulson to continue on, doing things her way while resenting any help offered from Harper-Moon investigations. And to top things off, you guessed it, there is a murder involving the movie crew.

I received and read a review copy of this novel. And as you might expect, I enjoyed it, just as I have the previous ones in this series. There are quite a few twists and turns involved in this cozy mystery that will keep you guessing all the way until the end. This book has the vibrant characters that we have come to love from the Mitzy Moon Cozy Mysteries and the Harper-Moon series. It is every bit as entertaining as the previous books, and while it is a quick read, it is a very fun one as well. I know that I enjoyed it a great deal.

This book ends with a twist that can be pretty easily anticipated if you're a regular reader of any of the Mitzy Moon and Erick Harper books, but that will affect this series as it goes forward, And I for one, can’t wait to see what will come next. (I really don’t want to spoil the ending for you, so if you want to know what I’m referring to, you’ll just have to read the book yourself.)

I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys reading Cozy Mysteries, Paranormal Cozy Mysteries, or who has enjoyed any of the other books involving Mitzy Moon, Erick Harper, and Ghostma. You won’t be disappointed.

Murder in the Garden of Enchantment
by Kathryn Gaucci

After receiving an invitation to a prestigious wedding in Constantinople, Theodosia begins planning, shopping for new clothing for herself and daughter, and gifts for the bride and groom. While talking with a close friend of hers, she hears some worrisome news about the groom and his reputation, and asks one of her servants to discreetly follow the young man to determine if these rumors are true or false. For if they are true, the young woman about to be married—the younger daughter of a friend of hers—will likely have an unhappy marriage ahead of her.

This cozy, historical fiction murder mystery was a beautiful description of life in early 20th century Constantinople. While it focused mostly on the wealthier lifestyles, it did also include a small amount about those who were among the less fortunate. This was a different type of book that what I am used to seeing from Ms. Gaucci as it is not primarily based on historical events or taking place in the middle of WWII. I received a review copy of this book, and as I have her WWII historical fiction novels, I enjoyed this one too.

The descriptions of the people and places are quite vivid. And it makes it easy to imagine being in the middle of a street market in Constantinople during this time period. And while I did figure out the “who-done-it” part of the story, there were quite a few surprising twists and turns along the path to revealing much of the how and why as well as the who behind the murder. For me, this was a nice, relaxing read. One where I could sit and immerse myself in the setting and the culture described within the book. And I believe that was one of my favorite aspects of this story.

If you like historical fiction with a touch of cozy mystery added in, then you will very much enjoy reading this book. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Gaucci provides her readers with her next novel. Whether that is a return to her WWII historical fiction or another cozy mystery, we are sure to enjoy the descriptions of what life would have been like in that time period and location.

Wheels and Dirty Deals
by Trixie Silvertale

Mitzy Moon and Erick Harper from are back for their next adventure in the town of Pin Cherry Harbor. After a boy is killed by someone seemingly deliberately hitting him with a van and driving off, Sheriff Paulson, as expected, arrests the wrong man, seeking only to close the case as quickly as possible with the least amount of work involved. But when her two biggest rivals get involved seeking to find the actual murderer, things always get interesting. In this case, it involves the well-known athletically-challenged Mitzi joining a roller-derby team to find the person behind the murder of a young man, as well as to learn why he was killed. And as you can guess, much more is discovered than was anticipated when the pair took the case.

I read an advance review copy of this book, and I enjoyed it a great deal, as I always do the books by this author. This series is fun, entertaining, and at times it includes some serious tugging of the heartstrings, as it did in this book. Mitzi is always an entertaining character, and paired with her husband Erick, who is often the more serious of the two, they make an amazing team. And reading about them always keeps me entertained.

This book—as are most of the ones in this series that I have read by Ms. Silvertale—is a quick read, and will keep you reading into the night so that you can find out “who done it and why” while enjoying the entertaining aspects of a good cozy mystery series. If you want to read something that is mostly lighthearted and fun (with a few more serious moments thrown in), then you should definitely check out this book, as well as the rest of this series. I think that you’ll likely enjoy them as much as I always do.

Apple Dumpling Murder
by Trixie Silvertale

Cyndi Claus is enjoying her life in the human world baking sweet treats for the town. Her bakery, with the building owned by her first friend in town, Ronnie, is quite popular, and when he announces that he plans on changing his will to leave the building to her, that’s when things get interesting. The next morning, he is found, by Cyndi, dead. And her fingerprints are on the murder weapon. But who was the actual murderer, and why?

This was the second book in the Christmas Catastrophe series. I read a review copy and truly enjoyed it. Ms. Silvertale, as always, has written a fun and entertaining cozy mystery. In this book, she has interwoven several holiday legends, traditions, and stories of the season and also provided us with some tasty sounding holiday dessert recipes. While I have not yet tried making any of them, they do sound delicious.

If you enjoy reading cozy mysteries, stories involving Christmas, Santa Claus and other seasonal traditions and legends, as well as any of the other books written by Ms. Silvertale, then you are very likely to enjoy this book. And if you enjoy baking, you will want to try making some of the recipes included in this book.

Purrs and Peril
Written by Jinty James
Narrated by Devon Sorvari

The Norwegian Cat Cafe is a licensed cat cafe, run by Lauren and Zoey, however unlike most cat cafes, they do not have cats available for adoption. The only cat in the cafe is Annie, who acts as a hostess, greeting the customers as they enter and guiding them to their tables. The regulars all love Annie, and she truly is the heart of the cafe. So when one of the regulars is murdered, the three of them can't help but try to figure out who killed him and why.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book. I enjoyed the story, and loved how important Annie was throughout the story. She may not have left the cafe, but without her help, Lauren and Zoey would have had a much more difficult time finding the clues needed to figure out what happened.

I will admit that the ending felt a little rushed in that the murder outed themself and provided the details that had not previously been found during the story. But despite that, it was pretty clear to me before that point who was the most likely to be the killer and I had a decent guess as to why, so despite the ending coming sooner than I had expected, I still enjoyed listening to this one. (It was a fairly short book, which is likely why the ending came sooner than I had expected. Had I been reading it rather than listening, I would say it was a very quick read.)

The narrator did a wonderful job keeping the voices of each of the characters distinct from one another, making it easy to tell who was speaking. And the portrayal of Annie was enjoyable as well. The narrator did a very good job in differentiating her vocalizations to show what the cat was trying to say to the humans.

If you enjoy cozy mysteries, especially ones where a cat plays such a large and integral part of the story, then I believe you will enjoy this one, whether you read or listen to this book.

April Hearses and May Curses
by Trixie Silvertale

When one of the local shops in Pin Cherry Harbor is ransacked and a magical item stolen, leaving the severely injured owner in the hospital, naturally her son hires Harper-Moon Investigations to solve the mystery of who attacked his mother and to make sure whoever it was winds up behind bars. His mother, being a woman who had held a long-standing mutual animosity with Mitzy’s “ghost-ma” and who was also a purveyor of the mystical arts, makes it doubly important that Mitzy and Eric are involved. Add in a some escaped prisoners and other old enemies/rivals returning, and this is quite a danger-filled adventure for the pair of private investigators.

I received an advance review copy of this book and, as always, Ms. Silvertale does not disappoint. This book kept me interested and reading from the page one, and I finished it within two days of starting it. Both Mitzy and Erick have their hands full solving this crime, and not only are both Mitzy herself and Erick in danger, but so are those closest to the pair. This is not merely a small crime or murder that they are trying to solve; the events unfolding, if not stopped, could have far reaching effects that go well beyond their town if it remains in the wrong hands. If Mitzy and Erick fail, allowing the one behind it all to succeed, there will undoubtedly be quite a few more deaths left in the wake of this evil force.

I apologize for being so vague as to what is happening, but I really do not want to give away any of the multiple twists and turns that take place in this book. If I did, that would spoil your enjoyment from reading and discovering everything yourself, and what fun is that? But trust me, if you enjoy cozy mysteries with a paranormal twist, have read and enjoyed any of the other books by Ms. Silvertale involving Mitzy Moon, former sheriff Erick Harper, their mystical friends and family, as well has the trouble that seems to follow them, then you will definitely enjoy reading this book. I would recommend giving it a try. And while you can likely pick up on much of what has gone before from the contents of this story, it will be much easier to truly understand some of it if you have read some of the previous books in this series first.

Small Island
by Toby Neal

Kat is a member of the Secret Service who has been working as the Postmaster in Ohia, Hawaii. It's not the direction she had envisioned her career taking, but the job has been growing on her. And more often than she would have expected, her Secret Service training has been very helpful. With more than one recent murder, members of a mafia-like organization setting up a business on the island, and a group of elderly ladies fighting to protect their small town from a questionable housing development nearby, Kat has been kept quite busy doing much more than just running a busy post office. And it looks like things are only about to get more interesting for her.

This was an enjoyable cozy mystery. The feel of a small, close-knit community in an island paradise comes through quite clearly. I enjoyed watching Kat work to solve another murder as well as protecting the friends she has made from becoming yet another set of victims of the criminal organization that appears to be operating out of New Ohia. And all this while learning how to run the post office by herself, striving to overcome her PTSD, and beginning a relationship with the handsome, Hawaiian pilot, Keone.

I especially loved watching Kat and Tiki, the feral cat who lives in her house, begin to trust each other and to care for and depend on each other. Their relationship parallels the developing relationship between Kat and Keone. It isn’t easy for someone with PTSD to trust and not run away from a new relationship, and watching Kat and Keone learn to trust and allow their feelings to develop despite their fears, was just as enjoyable as watching Kat & Tiki doing the same.

If you enjoy cozy mysteries that take place in a tropical setting, enjoyed the previous book in this series, or have enjoyed any of the author’s other books, then I believe you will also enjoy this book.

Fatal Wines and Valentines
by Trixie Silvertale

After receiving an invite to a high society Valentine's Day Gala at the local winery, Mitzi's very excited ghost-ma immediately begins planning what outfit Mitzi should wear. However During dinner, the host is murdered, and Harper/Moon Investigations is soon on the case. But this isn't the only mystery for them to solve in this book. Ghost-ma is having trouble staying tethered to the bookshop and is beginning to fade away, and Erick's imprisoned father has reached out to him. Why now, remains to be seen. Hopefully, Silas can solve the Problem that Ghost-ma is experiencing before she is gone for good.

I received a review copy of this book and enjoyed reading it just as much as both the previous books in this series as well as the Mitzi Moon books before that. Mitzi's snark and humor, combined with Erick's heart and crime solving experience, and adding in all the interesting other characters living in this small, almost-Canada town, and you have both an interesting cozy mystery and a fun paranormal tale.

While you may not expect a mystery novel with a murder to be a typical Valentine, the love in this book among the main characters in this cozy mystery is clear for all to see, and because of that, I feel this book makes a wonderful Valentine’s week selection, and if you choose to check it out, I hope that you will agree with me.

If you enjoy reading cozy mysteries with a paranormal twist or if you have enjoyed any of the other Mitzy Moon or Harper/Moon mysteries, then I believe that you'll enjoy this book as much as I did. Watching Mitzi find her way both in and out of trouble is, in my opinion, always a lot of fun.

“Peppermint Cookie Murder”
by Trixie Silvertale

Cynthia Claus was born and raised at the North Pole. She is the daughter of Santa Claus, and grew up knowing that someday she was expected to take over delivering toys to the children of the world. There’s just one problem with that plan; that's not what she wants to do with her life. What she really wants is to live somewhere else and run her own bakery. Baking, rather than toy making, is where her passions truly lie. Yes, her parents are disappointed at first that she doesn’t want to follow in her father’s footsteps, but they do what they can to help her make her dream possible.

When she moves into her first apartment in a small town far from the North Pole and begins a new life for herself, her first friend is her neighbor, who soon happens to be murdered next door to Cindy’s  apartment. And being the first to find the newly dead woman who had been killed using a unique pen that Cindy had given away not long before, the police arrest Cindy as the murderer. Now she needs to discover who actually committed the crime. If she can’t, her first time leaving home may wind up with her spending years in prison for a murder she didn’t commit.

This was a fun little Christmas Cozy mystery. I received a review copy of this book, read it through in one day and really enjoyed it. It even includes the recipes for several types of cookies and other sweet treats that were made by the main character in the story. While I haven’t tried baking any of them myself (Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of peppermint), they do sound interesting, and at some point I may have to give the gingerbread cookies or maybe the lemon drop cookies a try. There’s also a cheesecake recipe that sounds pretty good as well.

This was the first book in a new holiday series, a quick read, and I think it’s a good story. I know that I enjoyed it and it made me smile. I’ll be waiting and watching for the next one in the series. This one came just in time for me to have a nice quick little Christmas-themed book to read and review before the Christmas holidays, though I have no idea when the next one will be released. But I will be keeping my eyes open for it.

"Coconut Wireless" by Toby Neal

Kat is a Secret Service agent who had the bad luck of needing to reject the advances of someone powerful. Because of that, her boss was forced to remove her from her position, at least for the time being. And that's how she wound up being transferred into the position of Postmaster in the small town of Ohia in the Hawaiian Islands. Unfortunately, being an outsider brought in to fill a position that a local postal employee had expected to get leaves her with a less than pleasant start in both her new job & and her new town.

Things take a turn for the worse, when the feral cat living in Kat's new home brings her a human hand that just happens to belong to the previous postmaster. Now Kat has decided to help the local police solve the murder. Which is not the easiest of tasks when most people consider you an outsider.

I enjoyed reading this book. Parts of it were light hearted, but it also dealt with some serious topics, like the fact that Kat has been dealing with PTSD and is currently very touch sensitive in a community of people who are big on hugs, not always with a warning that they are about to hug her.

There was a lot of interesting information on Hawaii in this book, some of which I was aware of, but much of it was new to me. I loved the local flavor that was added in by using the native language by the people in the town. And the depictions of characters at first resenting Kat's presence, and later accepting her into their community, gave this book a great deal of authenticity.

I think anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries, the Hawaiian Islands, or both will enjoy this fun story. I will definitely be continuing on with reading this series in the future.

"Stiffs and Petroglyphs" by Trixie Silvertale

When Mitzi's old boss from the coffeeshop in Arizona calls hoping to hire the Harper-Moon Investigations duo to try and find out what happened to his missing girlfriend, Mitzi and Erick decide to take the job, traveling to Arizona and going undercover as  newlyweds looking to cleanse themselves of previous negativity at a retreat center on Native American lands.

With Mitzy and Erick attending the retreat and looking for the missing woman, what else are they likely to discover about what is really happening behind the scenes at the retreat? Because obviously there will be more going on than meets the eye. And this time, they are on their own. No “ murder board” to lay out the clues they find, and no Pyewacket or Silas around to help them out when they inevitably get into trouble along the way. Can they solve this one on their own? Will they be able to find out what secrets this retreat is hiding?

I received a review copy of this book, and as always, I enjoyed this latest adventure quite a bit. Nothing is ever quite as it first seems when this duo is involved. Yes, Mitzi once again stumbles upon a corpse and finds herself seemingly in over her head, but other than that and, of course, them solving the case, very little goes quite the way you might expect. All in all, making this a very enjoyable cozy mystery.

If you enjoy reading cozy mysteries, stories involving the famous characters from the Harper-Moon series, or have enjoyed any of Ms. Silvertale's other books, then you'll want to read this one.

I chose to become an Amazon Affiliate so that I would have access to their provided links. I feel that it is important to make it as easy as possible to find the books I talk about in my reviews. But as of yet, I have never earned a anything in this manner from Amazon.

"Wisteria Wonders"
Written by Angela Pepper,
Narrated by Tiffany Williams

Zara Riddle certainly has her hands full in this one. Not only did Frank,  her coworker at the library, turn into a pink flamingo after her prank surprised him, but not knowing that he was a shifter, he didn't know how to turn human again. Also, her neighbor Chet needs her help in order to return his finance’s spirit to her body and awaken her from a coma. Two rather difficult tasks for her to accomplish in this book. Add in Zara’s crush on Chet and her spirit-charmed abilities causing her to experience some of the other woman’s memories and feelings for Chet, and she really has her hands full.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story. It was a fun and amusing tale, even while parts of it left me feeling quite a bit of sympathy for a number of the characters involved.  The narrator once again did a great job of differentiating the voices of the characters so that there was no confusion as to who was speaking at any point within the story, and I enjoyed listening to the tale. This was the third book in this series, and I am looking forward to finding out what is next for the characters in the town of Wisteria.

If you enjoy Cozy mysteries, either reading or listening to the audiobook version, I think that you will enjoy this one. It is a very fun tale in an amusing series.

“Wicked Wisteria” written by Angela Pepper. Narrated by Tiffany Williams.

Strange things are once again happening in Wisteria. Print is vanishing from books in the library and elsewhere, even money is being affected with vanishing ink. Zara’s aunt Zinnia helps her to fix the books using a bookworm spell to restore the missing print, but what is causing it? And that’s not the only problem that seems to be happening, being a spirit charmed witch, Zara encounters a lost spirit who needs her help, but he may or may not actually be dead. Naturally, that seems to be only the beginning of the troubles happening at the moment.

Like the previous book, this one told a fun story that was well thought out and very entertaining. The characters were voiced well and distinctly enough from each other leaving no confusion as to who was supposed to be talking to whom. The plot kept me interested and entertained throughout the book, and the story kept me guessing until the end. I am already looking forward to listening to book 3 in the series so that I can see what sort of trouble Zara gets into next.

I listened to the audiobook version through audible, but this book may be available through the following locations:

Amazon now requires me to let you know that I do have an Amazon Associates account and that buying books through my attached links will generate a slight income for me. (I believe it allows a few pennies to be earned by me any time someone buys something after following one of my links.)

I use this service to be able to generate the links to their books for you on my site, but in complete honesty, I have yet to actually earn anything through this process. (Not enough people have ever bought anything after clicking one of the links I've provided. But I still feel that having the links in order for my readers to be able to easily find the books is a helpful service.)

"Bars and Boxcars" by Trixie Silvertale

Mitzi's father has just started a foundation dedicated to giving former prisoners a chance at a new start in life. Several of them are even working for him. Then a series of train robberies start happening and Mitzi is determined to help solve the puzzle of who is committing the robberies and how they always seem to know which train cars have the high end/expensive electronics.

I enjoyed reading this one. Mitzi manages to get  up to more hijinx than normal in this story in her attempt to find the criminals without Sheriff Harper's help. As usual, she finds herself in the middle of a heap of trouble, and as always watching her find her way out of the new mess she finds herself in is highly entertaining.

This is one of the books from a completed series that I have not yet made it entirely through yet. I have read many of the later books in the series but have been slowly trying to make my way through some of the books that I missed along the way. It may be a while before I have the time to read all of them, but I have been enjoying the opportunity to fill in some of the blank spots in my knowledge of the series from having not yet read many of the earlier books.

If you enjoy cozy mysteries or any of Ms. Silvertale's other books, then I believe you will enjoy this one. I would recommend trying to read this series in order, but even if you've missed one here or there, you should still enjoy this one too.

"Double Double Royal Trouble"
by Trixie Silvertale

After the witch who makes the cursed candies that trap magical creatures, causing them to remain bound to the Renaissance Faire is found dead, it seems that things are happening quite at a rapid pace and great changes are in store for everyone. Not only does this murder need to be solved, but there has been a dragon spotted flying at night, and no one knows who it is. Also, there is a possibility that the curse could actually be broken, which would allow everyone to stay or go if they chose. But not everyone is sure they want the curse to be ended. Many of them have been trapped in the Faire for centuries and no longer know how to survive outside of it. Could one of them be the murderer? And can the curse actually be broken or are they all doomed to remain trapped there forever?

I received a review copy of this book. It was the final book in this multi-author, combined-world series. And it was a fantastic way to end the series, though I personally would love to read about what some of the characters will do next. This book was fast paced and the type of book you just don't want to put down. I really enjoyed reading it, as well as all the previous books in the series. The characters have been fun to read about, and I am only sorry to see this series end, even knowing that it had to eventually.

If you've read the previous books, have visited a Renaissance Faire, or enjoy reading cozy mysteries with a paranormal twist, then I believe you will enjoy this book. While I know that I’ve not said much about the story itself here, I am trying to be very careful about not giving away too much and spoiling the ending, which makes it very difficult to say much of anything that doesn’t include spoilers. The main character is Coriander, the recently crowned queen of the fairies, but all of the characters that I've come to love also play a large part in this story. And that only makes it even better. As I said above, it's a great ending to a very fun series.

"The Wizard if Menace" by Erin Johnson

When a singer at the Faire is murder by Excalibur, the sword belonging to King Arthur, Laidey's cat familiar, Mort, is soon blamed for the murder, and if she can't find the actual killer, it's almost certain that he will be executed. And at the same time, it seems that if they can find a way to summon an unknown descendant of the person who had cast the curse that had doomed all of them to remain trapped in the Renaissance Faire, it may be possible to end the curse, freeing them all.

This was a fun cozy mystery. The link to the  Arthurian legend, made me smile. (I've always been partial to King Arthur stories.) There were several interesting twists along the way in this story that kept me trying to solve both the main part of the story, as well as the secondary story, both of which intertwined beautifully.

I received a review copy of this book and have enjoyed not only this one, but all of the previous books in this multi-author, shared-world series. If you have enjoyed any of the previous books in this series, enjoy cozy mysteries with a paranormal twist, or Renaissance Faire themed tales, then you will enjoy this book. I'm looking forward to seeing if, in the next book, the residents of the Faire can break the curse and go their separate ways, or if they will remain trapped for the remainder of their days.
